Walking up to the venue, one can feel the ambiance that a huge festival was about to begin. And why not, 311 was in town and this South Florida crowd was ready to party! The parking lots were full of tailgaters that would rival any NFL football game: bbq’s, drinks, yard games and of course, music...lots and lots of music.

Once inside the venue, the mood was upbeat and lively with the sounds of reggae playing all around. Frozen rumrunners and margaritas were the drink of choice for most. Though it was a typical South Florida summer night, the air thick with sweet humidity, it didn’t stop the near capacity crowd at the Sunset Cove Amphitheater in Boca Raton, Fla. from having a great time in the outdoor venue. After a picturesque sunset, 311 was ready to take the stage and take the party to new levels.

Mixing a variety of songs from their latest album, Stereolithic with a huge range of hits from the previous eight albums, no stone went uncovered for those hardcore 311 fans who were looking to sing along with one of the top selling rock bands since the early 90’s.

Yes, they’ve been performing for the better part of 20 years, and they show no signs of slowing down. In fact, they’re at the top of their game right now both musically and in their live shows. Their sound is clearly unique, a mix of a multitude of genres ranging from rock to reggae, they know their identity and stay true to it. Their stage presence is polished, as a veteran band should be. Though they were fully drenched in sweat by the second song due to the high humidity, that did not deter them from putting on a great performance. They clearly know what the fans expect, and they deliver without question.

Fans clearly enjoyed themselves at this event. Those who wanted to dance, scream and shout made their way towards the stage. Jumping up and down with their arms waving in unison, they sang along to their hearts content. Those less ambitious, relaxed on the lawn with blankets and enjoyed the performance in this family-friendly event. Either way, there were multitudes of balloons and beach balls tossed abound, and smiles were contagious.
