It's official: Bill Murray will be a ghost in the upcoming 'Ghostbusters 3' (with video)

Yes, it's true: Bill Murray will play a ghost in "Ghostbusters 3"

Well, it's been confirmed: after months of speculation and rumor-mongering-- some straight from the lips of Ms. "Avatar" herself, Sigourney Weaver-- Bill Murray has just come right out and admitted that, yes, he'll be in "Ghostbusters 3", and, yes, he's going to play a ghost.  Yeesh, while I'm figuring out how I feel about this, check out the details below, my gentle Examiner readers...

Leave it to a British publication to get the scoop on "Ghostbusters 3" before one of ours does.  The Media's so much more on their game over there, aren't they?  Anyway, The Daily Mail Online has a lengthy Q&A with Bill Murray up right now, and of course the topic of "GB3" comes up.  Here's what he says:

I'll come back in Ghostbusters 3 only if I get to be a ghost.  I said to them, "I'll do it if you kill me off in the first reel."  So, now they are going to have me as a ghost in the film.  The first 45 minutes of the original "Ghostbusters" is some of the funniest stuff ever made.  The second one was disappointing, because the special-effects guys took over.  I had something like two scenes-- and they're the only funny ones in the movie.

Daaamn, "Ghostubsters 2": you just got told by Bill Murray.  These things happen.

The "Ghostbusters 3" project has been bouncing around for years, but only recently has it picked up any steam.  Two writers from "The Office" have been slaving away at script revisions for some time now, and just recently Ivan Reitman confirmed that he'd be coming back to direct the film.  There's nothing as solid as a release date yet, but we do know-- thanks to Harold Ramis, who may need to drop a few pounds to revisit his role as Egon-- that they're aiming to film this year.  Here's footage of Murray from awhile back, talking a little more about the project:

Yes, Ghostbusters 3 is a good idea. The CGI effects should be top notch, and Murray as a ghost would be a hoot!
