It's official: ABC names Emily Maynard as next star of 'The Bachelorette'

It's official: ABC has named Emily Maynard as the next star of their hit reality dating series "The Bachelorette."

Fans of the series should remember Emily as the sweet, southern single mom from Brad Womack's season of "The Bachelor." Brad proposed to Emily at the end of season 15 - despite viewers' strong believes runner-up Chantal O'Brien was the right woman for Brad - but things ended terribly for the pair, with Emily earning a special "Bachelor" follow-up episode to explain what went wrong - as if that was normal.

Rumors regarding Emily as the Bachelorette have been swirling for months, particularly heating up in the last week, but nothing was confirmed until today. While viewers love Emily and are presumably excited to see her search for love, one has to wonder why she would subject herself to this again. Fingers crossed she'll find the love of her life this time around!
