It's official: 2012-2013 ski season underway in Colorado

Arapahoe Basin (A-Basin) opened today with two trails and one lift according to its snow report. An inch of new snow fell last night, followed by high winds which wreaked havoc on the mountain roads even shutting down eastbound Interstate 70 and U.S. Highway 6 for a time. Regardless, the ski season is underway in Colorado!

High noon is a blue, intermediate trail at A-Basin with a midway depth of 18". Unfortunately, no green or beginner terrain is open yet. The snowguns will be going full force as long as temperatures hover around 28 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. Loveland Ski Area will not be far behind A-Basin with plans to open this week.

Now is the time to scrape off the storage wax and pull out the ski clothes. Winter will be here before you know it. Will you be ready for it?
