March 23 is National Puppy Day, did you know that? Well, it's been around for nine years.
Every cause has a day these days, so it seems, but what is better than National PUPPY Day, and what puppies are cuter than DOXIES?
See some of the cute photos I've collected, and my friends have taken of amazing Dachshunds of all kinds, and consider that if you want a Dachshund, don't go to a puppy mill.
Check out the photo gallery of my personal pups, and ones shot by photographer Johnny Ortez-Tibbels (also the Small Dogs Examiner) who specializes in Dachshunds (see: rufusontheweb.com) and he runs the non-profit tax-deductible charity that helps the wiener breed, D.O.G.S. (Dachshund Outreach Giving and Socialization).
The day is to celebrate the magic and unconditional love that puppies bring to our lives, but it's also a date to help save orphaned puppies across the globe and educate the public about the horrors of puppy mills.
Colleen Paige started National Puppy Day in 2006, and she is a writer and expert in celebrity pets and home lifestyles. She also helped create the internationally-recognized National Cat Day (October 29) and National Dog Day (August 26).
There are 50 ways to celebrate National Puppy Day, other than flipping through our gallery of cute puppies, they include:

* Write your Congressman and ask that he/she support the ban of Puppy Mills in your state.
* Assist an ill or elderly neighbor by walking their puppy.
* Revamp your puppy's toy bin with new, clean toys and get rid of the old, bacteria infested ones!
* Install a car safety harness to keep your puppy safe during travel from
