If you're wondering what all the hubbub is in front of The Art Museum this morning, wonder no more. The Philadelphia Museum of Art and Campus Philly are teaming up to bring you College Day. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., college students with a valid college ID can enjoy free admission to The Art Museum. Prizes, food, music, freebies, discounted membership and much more will be available to the students. In addition, "every picture tagged #PMACollegeDay is a second chance to win and students are encouraged to follow @philamuseum."
The museum's, Great Stair Hall, will be turned into a "student lounge" as part of this event. The museum notes that students, "can explore the Museum’s Main Building with more than 200 galleries of permanent collections and special exhibitions, as well as the Ruth and Raymond G. Perelman Building across the street and the nearby Rodin Museum."
Vendors from 5-Hour Energy, Campus Phillly, Peanut Chews, local colleges and others are setting up shop for this year's College Day. Representatives from the military are even setting up a wall to test your rock-climbing abilities.
“We are delighted to welcome the Philadelphia region’s new and returning students to College Day, which has been a proud tradition for the Museum for 27 years,” said Marla Shoemaker, the Kathleen C. Sherrerd Senior Curator of Education. “And, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to give these students the chance to discover our galleries and learn about our special exhibitions and year round programming, including Pay What You Wish Wednesday Nights and Art After 5 Friday evening performances.”
