Many of you know in Dallas/Fort Worth there is good - scratch that - GREAT live music to be found every week. Yet, there is something about spring and the warm weather outdoor events that make our favorite bands sound even mo' betta!
Buttons, located at 4701 W. Freeway in Fort Worth, is the place to be, and since it is usually packed to the rafters on weekends, you will be glad to know they have an outdoor seating area that is quite comfy when the weather permits.
Check out the internationally acclaimed Breggett Rideau and her band in their upcoming performances at Buttons and elsewhere in the Metroplex. If you want smoky, sultry jazz, they deliver. If you are looking to get your dance on, Breggett and the fellas have the pop, soul, funk, R&B and whatever else you need in order to break a sweat.
Another perennial crowd-pleaser is the Buster Brown Band. This band features the flaming hot guitar licks of founding member Jim Casey; the groove machine known as drummer Lawrence 'Peebody' Ferrell; and the thundering bass of Mike Medina and Rick 'Funkmeister' Rigsby. Stir in the powehouse vocals of another founding member - Kelly McNulty, together with those of Rev. James Kings and the sultry smooth sounds of heartthrob Roger Burton and our man Al Olive (who, incidentally, has a sizzling, brand new CD entitled Dream that will drop any day now) and you have the kind of delicious madness we found at Buttons on a recent Friday night: Rhythmically challenged people dancing all over the place (or doing what they thought was dancing) and other people coupling off and, ahem, obviously forgetting that they were not at home alone in front of the fireplace.
Breggett and the fellas will play Buttons again on April 3rd, showtime is 8:00 p.m. Call Buttons at 817.735.4900.
And your next opportunity to groove with Breggs and her band will be Saturday, April 10 at 3:30 p.m at the Fort Worth Main Street Arts Festival, Main at 9th Streets in Downtown Funkytown.
To put some Buster Brown Band in your life, catch them tonight, March 26th at Buttons. Show starts at 8:00 p.m.
Or you could join them on April 3rd at Memphis Restaurant. Memphis is located at 5000 Beltline Road, Ste. 500, Dallas, TX 75240, and their phone number is 972.386.9517.
And finally, Buster Brown Band will also perform at the Main Street Arts Festival on Saturday, April 10th. Their party starts at 5:30 p.m.
This just in - another Dallas/Fort Worth favorite, smooth jazz vocalist extraordinaire and Saxmaster Rob Holbert is also on tap for the Main Street Arts fest - catch him and his band on opening day - Thursday April 8th from 12:30 to 1:30 in the afternoon. You will definitely find them worth taking off early from work!
