Germany has been moving forward in green, renewable energy and their efforts are paramount to the clean energy dilemma that many countries, including the United States, are facing. The problem with solar energy for America, according to Fox Business reporter Shibani Joshi, is that Germany is much sunnier than anywhere in the U.S., which is why solar energy just isn't in the cards for our country. This little tidbit of information astounds the informed public, considering it might be one of the more ignorant statements a Fox News "expert" has said in a while. Truth be told, Germany has about the same amount of potential for solar energy as Alaska, which is, of course, America's least sunny region.
In this news clip, Shibani Joshi claims that:
"They're a smaller country, and they've got lots of sun. Right? They've got a lot more sun than we do."
She then goes on to include:
"The problem is it's a cloudy day and it's raining, you're not gonna have it... In California this is a great solution. Here on the East Coast, it's just not going to work."
So that's why we should go ahead and keep fracking for natural gas since it's track record is flawless, right? Wrong. After the exemption from the Clean Water Act that fracking companies received back in 2005, thousands of people came forward with horrifying stories including methane levels in the ground water so bad they could light their tap water on fire. Many more cases have shown sickness related to leaked gases, chemical contamination from the fracking process, and explosions happening at drilling sites due to faulty engineering.
The EPA is in the process of putting tougher restrictions on the natural gas industry. But, too little too late is what most are saying about them.
Fox News is literally just a propaganda device for capitalist interests, as a lot of America already knows. However, it is terrible that many believe they are watching reality when they are just tuning in to an ongoing commercial for big-business.
