It’s time, once again, for Tri-State Basset Hound Rescue’s BoardWaddle, starring basset hounds from across the tri-state area. This most pawmazing of fundraisers features spectacular events and, more importantly, the opportunity to get a basset hound of your very own!
The Tri-State Basset Hound Rescue BoardWaddle is held each year in conjunction with Ocean City, N.J.’s infamous Doo Dah Parade. The Doo Dah Parade is a way to let the steam off after you mail that check on tax weekend. Tri-State and the hounds will really lighten your mood!
What can you expect? Two days of fun and frolic with hundreds of basset hounds. That equates to a lot of doggie love and kisses, plus tons of laughs for you. Here’s a run-down:

Saturday, April 12
Saturday kicks off with BoardWaddle registration located at the Tabernacle, 6th and Asbury Avenue, the same place you enjoyed the Olympics on Friday. Registration and collection of pledges begins at 10 a.m. and continues until 11:30 a.m. All basset waddlers and their handlers must be in line by noon to begin the parade. If you’ve preregistered, just check in and turn in your pledges and get ready to waddle!
Now it’s time for you and your basset to strut it out together at BoardWaddle 2014. The parade begins promptly at noon on the corner of 6th and Asbury, heads down Asbury Avenue to 12th Street, turns left and heads for the Boardwalk. It continues on the Boardwalk back to 9th Street. The rest of the parade stops here, but bassets never quit! They continue on to 6th Street for their favorite event, the picnic. Every basset loves to eat!
The Picnic is back at Basset Central (6th and Asbury) behind the Civic Center and begins at one. The picnic is open to all parade goers and visitors. There will be an Arts & Crafts Show with lots of talented artisans and craftsmen (many specializing in animal or beach-related treasures. Lots of food vendors, rescues and area shelters will have tents set up. It’s a great ending to one of the most fun weekends you’ll ever have!
The BoardWaddle is tons of fun and games, but let’s get serious for a moment. The best thing you could bring home from the BoardWaddle is your own basset hound. Tri-State has many hounds, purebreds, mixes, all ages, sizes and colors. You’re sure to find your perfect new best friend. If you’ve ever thought about opening your home to a dog, try a basset hound. You can fill out the adoption application HERE in advance so you’ll be ready to pick your new short, furry buddy from the adoption area. Not sure about adoption? Try fostering a hound. You can get that application HERE.
