It's about exploring a future career with choice programs in PBC

A Choice Program in the School District of Palm Beach County, for some students, is an exploration experience to help students begin to make decisions and even a measure of commitment on a future career choice/possibility. Loggers’ Run Middle School is South Palm Beach County’s first Pre-Law Choice Program. Other choice programs at Loggers’ Run are Pre-Medical (forensics) and Pre-Culinary Arts. The new addition of Pre-Law brings to the students a challenging program which includes local, national and international law along with civil and criminal law. The criminal law segment will work side-by-side with the school’s exclusive forensic program. Students residing south of Boynton Beach Blvd and west of A1A may choose any one of Loggers’ Run Middle’s programs and receive district transportation.

Choice Programs help students to thrive in their education process through learning and enjoyment. Thirty-one Palm Beach Gardens Pre-Med Sophomores recently took a Field Trip to the University of Florida (UF). Because their teacher completed a Summer Science Institute through the Center for Pre-collegiate Education and Training at UF, the teacher had the opportunity to bring a group of students for a day filled with science education about UF’s health science programs.

Students completed a lab about pathogens at the Cancer/Genetics Research Complex, took a tour of the Health Science Center, learned about the various aspects of different specialties, degree options and classes offered, and were introduced to six Palm Beach Gardens High School Pre Med Alumni for a Question and Answer panel session.

For those parents/students that would like to be involved in learning about career selections to explore, Choice program applications are located at: http://www.mypbchoiceapp.com/site.php.
