*****10.13.12 Author update: TMZ is reporting that Courtney Robertson & Arie Luyendyk, Jr. are now dating!!! Check out www.tmz.com, they have pics!
Shocker, I know, but both Reality Steve (www.realitysteve.com) & Radar Online (www.radaronline.com) are reporting that couples ‘Bachelorette’ Emily Maynard & Jef Holm, as well as ‘Bachelor’ Ben Flajnik & Courtney Robertson are dunzo.
Rumors about Emily & Jef have been rampant. We’ve seen reports that Emily was paying Jef to make it look like they were still together. Also, Jef’s ex came out in Us Weekly & on Reality Steves’ site that she was contacted by Jef after the Final Roase & had a rendezvous with his ex. Rumors were rampant that Emily had been caught secretly texting a mystery football player rumored to be Matt Leinart. Ben & Courtney also made an official announcement that they have called it quits after 11 months of dating, even though the writing was on the wall long ago during the After The Final Rose airing, when we were informed they had broken up already & gotten back together. According to Radar Online, Courtney Robertson now has to return the $80,000 engagement ring Ben gave to her to Neil Lane Jewelers.
This all begs the questions…why oh why do we all keep watching? I guess we want to believe it’s real when we’re watching..though as we all know, real world love is much tougher than reality TV love on some exotic island. Luckily, we do have a few examples that prove it can work. Think ‘Bachelorette” Trista & Ryan. Or the recent match up of ‘Bachelorette’ Ashley & PJ. Odds of Reality TV love lasting are low but so are the odds in real life. For some reason, we like to project an unrealistic happily ever after lasting love on those who are larger than life on TV & screen. We mere mortals can’t make it work, so we hope they can make it so that maybe we too have a chance that it’s possible for us too.
So all this all leaves me to ponder..any chance of Emily & Ben getting together? Not likely. Nor would I want to see that. What about Emily hooking up with host Chris Harrison, who’s recently single? That would be awesome but also highly unlikely. What I am hoping for however, is perhaps a reunion with Emily runner up Sean Lowe, the next ‘Bachelor’. It's not really that too far fetched. Most of us who watched 'Bachelorette' would have loved to see those two hookup. Perhaps it could still happen. That would make the next journey of the Bachelor worth watching. We'll know for sure when the next 'Bachelor' premieres it's 17th Season in January, 2013 on ABC.
