While many doll collectors appreciate substantial dolls of 14 inch, 16 inch and 22 inch height, the Barbie doll, and Liv doll size of 11 1/2 to 12 inches has remained a staple for doll collectors. However, companies like Madame Alexander, Ideal, Duchess and other doll manufacturers have ensured there is always a healthy niche for small dolls of 8 inches or less.
Many of these smaller dolls represent little girls, from Madame Alexander's Wendy to Ideal's Betsy McCall and Eden's Madeline doll. The Barbie family of smaller child dolls includes Tutti and Todd, Chelsea, and Kelly.
Duchess, Dawn and plastic travels dolls were made with more mature females figures and today Mattel also makes smaller versions of their Barbie doll.
Now miniature versions of small dolls can often be found in McDonald's Happy Meals.
Whatever your taste in dolls, there is sure to be a small doll that will fit in your collection. It's a small world after all.
