Rib-tickling lyrics and tuneful interpretations that cross folk with country is the fifth CD, High Roller from the award-winning southern California duo known as Hullabaloo .
On this new release, musicians Steve Denyes (guitar, bass, vocals) and Brendan Kremer (cajon, vocals) are joined by guest artists Dennis Caplinger (banjo, dobro, fiddle, mandolin, guitar) and Beth Crocker (vocals.)
High Roller’s 12 track offering provides fresh interpretations of such classics as “This Land is Your Land,” London Bridge,” and “Oh, Susanna!” with an ample mix of creative new standouts like “400 Cupcakes” (a birthday party dilemma) “Dinosaur in My Backyard” (a ballad about childhood imagination) and the title song, “High Roller,” which is definitely an amusing toddler-type tribute to “the man in black” – Johnny Cash.
Having garnered three Parent’s Choice Awards, Two Children’s Music Web Awards and a NAPPA Gold Award for their previous albums, Denyes and Kremer have quite a following and tour extensively as Hullabaloo, being much in demand for their kid-friendly entertainment.
In between gigs, Hullabaloo keeps in touch with their parent friends and littliest fans with their blog and amusing videos. Below is one of several favorites, “Blah, blah, blah.”
Hullabaloo’s High Roller is available to preview on CD Baby, where you can also purchase the individual tracks or the entire CD. High Roller is also made available through itunes.
