It's a good week for great food in Roanoke and Charlottesville

There's a lot to celebrate this week including the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday and the Presidential Inauguration. This week is also restaurant week in many cities across the country.

Downtown Roanoke Restaurant Week begins on Monday, Jan. 21. Whether you're looking for a $10 lunch meal or a date-night dinner at a great downtown restaurant, you have lots of options. There are $20 and $30 options available for dinner this week, through Jan. 26.

Charlottesville Restaurant Week also begins on Monday. There are $29 and $36 special dinners at some of Charlottesville's best restaurants from Jan. 21 through Jan. 27.

Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or taking your high school student on a trip to visit UVA, you'll love the selections in Charlottesville. Many of the restaurants are located downtown, near UVA's campus.

Your $29 dinner choices in Charlottesville include three-course dinners at The Melting Pot, Orzo, Boar's Head, Horse & Hound, Ristorante Al Dente, Balkan Bistro, Burtons Grill, Da Luca, and Bang! as well as The Bavarian Chef in Madison.

You will find $36 selections at C&O Restaurant on Water Street and Caffe Bocce on E. Market Street. The Caffe Bocce selections are all four-course meals.

The downtown Roanoke lunch choices include an entree, side and beverage. The 16 restaurants participating are too many to list but include Awful Arthur's, Beamer's 25, Queso Southwest Grill, and Sarah's Place.

Roanoke restaurants offering $20 three-course dinner specials include Awful Arthur's, Firefly Fare, Fork in the City, Fork in the Market, Habana Cafe, Martin's Downtown Bar and Grill, Nawab Indian Cuisine, and Queso Southwestern Grill.

For $30, you can choose three-course dinner specials at 202 Market, Alexander's, Blue 5, Billy's, First and Sixth, Formosa Lounge, Frankie Rowland's Steakhouse, Lucky Restaurant, The Quarter, Hotel Roanoke's Regency Room, Table 50, and Metro!

You will find menus for all participating restaurants at the Charlottesville Restaurant Week and Downtown Roanoke Restaurant Week websites above. Some of the restaurants will allow you to call ahead for reservations.

Restaurant Week is the perfect time to celebrate with your spouse or to take the whole family out to explore fine dining in Charlottesville or downtown Roanoke.
