It's day five of Integrated Wealth Management Fashion Week El Paseo in beautiful Palm Desert, California, and if you haven't made your way to the biggest consumer fashion event on the West coast, then you're missing out.
Attendees enjoyed the Style and Beauty Bash on Sunday with on-the-spot makeovers followed by a fashion show featuring the creations. The proceeds from the event went to the Girlfriend Factor, a non-profit dedicated to advancing women in the workplace. That evening the first headlining designer took to the stage. Victor Tung debuted his delightful spring collection of skirts, dresses and long jackets which he hand paints himself. Tung offered his designs the next morning at his trunk show; a great opportunity for people to meet the designer and purchase right off the rack.
On Monday, Fashion Week El Paseo enjoyed a runway show by former students of FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. Headlining and emceeing the event was fashion commentator, designer and former Project Runway contestant, Nick Verreos. Verreos spoke to a packed house about FIDM, the designers being showcased and told a few jokes of his own. His witty charm was a great opener for the event. The FIDM event celebrated three decades of FIDM students' designs which appear at the college's graduating runway show, Debut. The FIDM designers who showcased their collections alongside Verreos were: Paul Hernandez, Angela Avanesyan, Karen Kane, Heathyr Lawrence, Clay Sadler and jewelry designer, Joe Vilaiwan.
Each collection was entirely unique from elaborate gowns with matching head-pieces to the always popular little black dress.
All in all, Fashion Week El Paseo has something for every fashion enthusiast. With five days still left, it's not too late to purchase tickets and experience what everyone calls "the best of the West", Fashion Week El Paseo.
