Everybody has their own idea of how they like their chili. Unless you make it from a can or you follow a recipe to a "T" not one is the same. Anymore you can get it with any kind of meat you like and even some without meat and they all taste amazing and are perfect for that amazing, cool, wrap yourself in a blanket sitting in the window and looking out at all the beautiful colors of this season we call autumn.
If you love harvest season and in the mood for chili, then you must come out to Paola for their 9th Annual Harvest Festival and Chili Cook-Off. Come try as much chili as your heart desires and browse the different booths that are set up to celebrate this wonderful season. There will craft booths, booths to show off woodworking skills, pottery, ceramics, food, farm produce and different organizations will have booths as well. There will be live music in the background and plenty of activities for the kids including a costume contest that is separated by age groups.
It's free admission to get into the festival, but different chili booths may ask for a donation to try their chili. The festival starts at 9am and goes until 3pm on Saturday October 26th. It's at the Paola Square, which is downtown Paola, so come on out and enjoy some local arts and crafts, music and great chili.
