Robin Williams is not the first comedian to commit suicide, but he is certainly one of the most loved. Today the world lost a great actor and comedian. Fellow actors and fans are shocked by the news of his untimely death. Many are expressing their disbelief through multiple social media venues and will continue to do so for the next few days, at least.

His media representative, reported that, "He has been battling severe depression of late." Depression is a serious illness that can affect anyone regardless of age or stage in life. Some people may suffer depression only once in their lives, while for others it is an ongoing issue.

Robin Williams’ career spans over three decades. He became a household name with his role in Mork and Mindy in the late seventies, early eighties. Although his first TV role, as Mork, was on Happy Days. He gained fame in his role of this nerdy alien who just wanted to be accepted in this new planet. Mork made many fans by making everyone laugh with his innocent antics and quirky ways. Even as his fame grew, most people remember him as Mork from this show. Most people can immediately identify the show, with the greeting "Nano Nano". A greeting made famous by Robin Williams as Mork.

He was equally if not more successful on the big screen with a plethora of blockbuster movies. Although he did some serious work, his true platform was comedy. He had a knack for making people laugh and fall in love with him in the process.

This will be a difficult time for his family as deal with this very personal issue.
