The high lands are at Highland Parks Golf Course at 2775 N. Ela Road in Hoffman Estates, Ill. (This course has more high lands [hills] than any other Forest Preserve Golf course or any Chicago Park District Golf course.) Highland Woods Golf Course likely has more hills than any golf course in Illinois except Big Run Golf Course, which is in Will County. Highland Wood’s, 17th hole has the 183 yards; this is the average distance from the rear, gold teeing ground to the putting green.
From the blue teeing ground, the average distance to the putting green is 173 yards. One hundred fifty-four yards is the average distance from the white teeing ground. From the front, red teeing ground, the average distance is 133 yards. The 17th hole has a #17, course hole handicap.
The fairway points north, and it is straight. Moderately tall trees are on both sides of the fairway; however, there are several yards separating the fairway’s edges from the trees. At approximately 50 yards from the putting green on the right side there is a moderate size sand bunker. This bunker has an irregular shape; its width is longer than its length. Another sand bunker is on the left side. This bunker begins at approximately the same distance as the bunker on the right side. It also has an irregular shape, but its length is longer than its width.
On the putting green’s, right, front side there is a moderate size sand bunker. This bunker’s middle bulges inward on the side closest to the putting green. I believe this bunker is at least one foot lower than the putting green’s level. Another, small sand bunker is on the putting green’s, left, rear side. A space of two-five feet separates this small bunker from the putting green; whereas, the medium size bunker on the right side almost touches the putting green.
The putting green is moderate size and has an oval shape. I believe it slopes downward rear to front. Using this hole’s, course hole handicap (#17) as reference, this putting green should not be exceptionally difficult to putt upon.
