It is in the mind of almost every Walt Disney World vacationer during the months of June through November. Will hurricane season ruin my Disney vacation and if a hurricane is forecasted can I cancel my plans? Because the threat of a hurricane making landfall is always there during Hurricane Season in Florida, Disney has set forth guidelines to help guests understand their rights and what they can do during this time of year.
Here is the current Hurricane Policy for guests who have booked complete Disney vacation packages or room only packages at any Disney-owned resort in Orlando, Vero Beach and Hilton Head. This policy is in effect annually from June 1 through November 30.
When a hurricane warning is expected in these areas, or the guest’s place of residence, guests can cancel or reschedule their vacation without any penalties or fees. It is the guest’s responsibility to contact Disney, or their travel agent, to make changes or cancellations.
Even though Disney will not charge any penalties or fees, third party reservations may. Contact those you made car reservations, air travel and other non-Disney resort stays with to see what their hurricane policy is. If airfare is booked through Disney, they will make every effort to reschedule, but is not responsible for any fees and penalties charge to the guest.
All deposit made prior to arrival will be credited toward a rescheduled vacation. However, Disney does not guarantee the same accommodations or prices during the rescheduled vacation. Plus, all special discounts and fees are not transferable to the new vacation.
The hurricane policy is not applicable to select special events and dining experiences, including meetings, conventions, youth and sporting events.
