When Jesus walked the Earth both the Romans and Jewish leadership had difficulty comprehending and realizing who Jesus was and what Jesus represented. While the Romans cared not that Jesus represented one of many deities, as long as their emperor was esteemed as the ultimate god and authority, the status of Christ did not matter. Similar philosophic thought dominates in America as the cultural war for ultimate supremacy continues.
The Jewish authority in the Sanhedrin failed to connect the dots that Jesus represented the promised Messiah that had been foretold by the Old Testament prophets, particularly in Daniel where a countdown to when the Messiah would enter Jerusalem was prophesied hundreds of years before it happened. Christ wept over Jerusalem because the very people He came to save failed to recognize the time of His visitation, however that will be remedied in the future according to Scripture.http://www.simpletoremember.com/articles/a/jewsandjesus/
Jesus represented no threat to the Roman authority and Pontius Pilot thrice declared no fault in Christ, however submitted to the political demands to kill Jesus to keep the peace with a politically motivated mob that was more interested in freeing a convicted murderer in Barabbas.http://atheism.about.com/od/biblepeoplenewtestament/p/Barabbas.htm
Not too much has changed in two thousand years. The same question Jesus challenged His disciples is the same question that resonates today, “Whom do you say I am?” Peter declared something that was illuminated to him through a spiritual revelation from God when Peter finally declared, “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God!”
Jesus’ other disciples declared various revelation, however they were incorrect. As today, many having no knowledge attempt to self-determine who they believe Christ is, however their badly administered descriptions are also incorrect. Either Jesus is as He declares He is or He is not, and that would include nothing in-between either.
Everything is invalidated if Jesus is not who He claims. That includes false prophet, false teacher, and being a liar. One cannot esteem Christ as a true teacher or prophet if you do not accept what His claims are. Jesus is a historical figure and His declarations are either true or false.
The Bible’s stipulation that Jesus is God incarnate represents a spectacularly breath-taking revelation of who Christ really is. What is unfortunate is when those having limited or no knowledge of scriptural references attempt to float their opinions of who Christ is and expect to have more validity to their speculations. Sadly the same applies to many alleged Christian followers who would rather follow doctrines of men rather than the doctrine of God.
Counterfeit Christianity and false teachers claiming understanding are warned about in the Bible. The concept of “doctrines of demons” existed during the time of Christ and has only increased its avenues today. Haters of Christ have always attempted to misrepresent what Christianity represents to the point where they constantly worry what true believers actually stand for.
Jesus set the standard for the true followers and that standard has not deviated for thousands of years. There are clear designations to determine the true followers from the pretend-to-be group.
God is not the Author of confusion and much speculation has been the foundation of many suggestions of who Christ is and what the Bible is claimed to state. Some of this speculation has become written into the doctrines of some Christian churches and spun as revelations from God. However most of the inaccurate information is being created by the forces of darkness that have always opposed God’s authority in one capacity or another.
Invalidation of Holy Scriptural standards or references is a fail-safe way to expose ideals or concepts being spun to deceive truths established through the authentic teachings of Christ.
The Bible warns one needs to study to show yourself approved…”rightly dividing the word of truth”. This means one can WRONGLY divide the word of truth which explains the numerous denominations and non-denominations claiming to have illuminated Bible truth.
Everything in the Bible is truly stated, but everything in the Bible is not a statement of truth.
