“The worst part of success is trying to find someone who is happy for you.” Bette Midler
It seems that no one wants to be happy for themselves anymore. It is such a shame, because if you are not proud of yourself, then why did you go through the effort anyway.
This current societal expectation of conformity, has shifted the hierarchy of needs. No longer is the top tier Self Actualization. It is now communal actualization.
Speaking for self, I can not help you up if I am also lost as to what up is. Gone are the days, when hard work, dedication and award plus reward for your efforts are displayed for all to see. The culture of ‘Haterism” has made it taboo to post grand accomplishments. It has even made it taboo to stand out and be yourself.
Can we say it together? “I LIKE ME!” When was the last time anyone was encouraged to stand up and say that they really do like themselves, and their accomplishments, and failures?
As we embark into this new year, make your list of business goals. Start with where you want to be in 5 years, and then work your way back onto the steps you will need to take in order to reach that goal. You may find that you need your own cheerleading corner. A mentor, business partner, like minded associates, family or most importantly, yourself are the best cheerleaders you can have.
It is ok to strive to be a millionaire, and have a solid plan on how you are going to accomplish that goal. It is ok to spend 10 hours a day on your day job, then turn around and spend 8 hours at night working on building your passion into your dream opportunity. It is ok to push yourself mentally, physically, emotionally and financially to make your dreams turn into a reality.
