So I am wondering who will be the first to pull the trigger in this 2013-14 NFL season.
I say this because this season has been VERY hard on starting quarterbacks, and one that is not in currently playing in the NFL. Yes I am talking about - one Tim Tebow.
Let’s go through the list…
- Chicago Bears - backup Josh McCown
- Nick Foles - backup Matt Barkley
- Sam Bradford - backup Kellen Clemons
- Mike Glennon - starting in T.B.
- Chad Henne - starting in Jacksonville
- Thad Lewis - starting in Buffalo
- Case Keenum - starting in Houston
- Josh Freeman starting for the Vikings.
Now before we get started, I am not saying Tebow is a great in NFL quarterback. But as you look at these names as backups or as starters I want to know what some of these teams are thinking?
This is a very simple answer for one team that makes the so-called reach. I say so-called because it really isn’t a reach at all. Looking at all of these quarterback that are starting or will be starting, why wouldn’t you have Tebow step in? At least he has had success in the NFL compared to those on this list.
OK so he doesn’t have the best arm in the NFL. Heck he isn’t all that great, but come on McCown? Freeman? Henne? Tebow brings something that says winner.
You can say the Broncos defense was the reason why they did so well when he took over for that team three season ago. But there is no questioning the electricity Tebow brings. Never mind the fact Tebow jerseys will fly off the shelf. What is good for business?
The excuse most want to say is, that if Bill Belichick can’t use him then he is no good. Really? Well let’s talk about the back-up in N.E. They have been molding Ryan Mallett sense 2011. He is the heir apparent in N.E. so of course they can’t use him. And let’s get real, he never had a chance in N.Y. with the Jets. That team isn’t known for making the best decisions. But they did sell a lot of jerseys.
Again I don’t think Tebow is that great, but look at the list above and you tell me who is better than Tebow? Now before I am beat up, I say Tebow could have started for only five teams in the NFL when the season started, so there isn’t much of a love affair here. I knocked Tebow when he was playing in Denver, but like I always said then I say now. It doesn’t matter how great he is, it is about that all important check mark under the “W” column in the record book, and Tebow can and will do that for any team on this list, and guess what, let’s just say he doesn’t, he still is better than those on this list - period!
