It does not matter if your Walt Disney World vacation is three weeks away or two years away. No matter how long you have to wait before leaving for your vacation, it is never too early to start planning. There is a lot to do and everything you need to do before your vacation will only help get you and your family more excited about your upcoming magical adventure.
Before working on your planning there are a few things you should gather. Pick up a notebook with pockets to write down notes and keep documents, such as reservation confirmations and park maps.
Start writing down all of your must-do’s for the family. This will help you plan your vacation and ensure that everyone sees what they have to see while at Disney. When planning your vacation out remember to not over schedule your trip. Keep things simple. Only fill in the things you and your family have to do and see and try to leave the rest of the day open to whatever happens.
Download copies of maps and make notes directly on the map. Print out several copies so everyone in the family can highlight what they want to do and see at each park. Then sit down and make one master map containing everyone’s list of things to see.
Also, keep in mind that things change and happen which can alter your schedule during vacation. Do not let this upset you. Be flexible in your planning. If you get upset because something is not going the way you planned it to go, you will only upset the rest of the family making the your vacation a little less magical.
Prepare for the Florida heat. Make a list of items you will need, such as lightweight clothing, sunscreen and hats. Do not forget to find a pair of comfortable walking shoes and wear them for a few weeks before leaving on vacation. You do not want your shoes to hurt your feet, which will only make your walking the parks unbearable.
If traveling with kids, make a list of toys or things for them to do while in the hotel room. This will keep them occupied while you plan your day or even take a shower.
Writing everything down will only help you better plan your vacation and ensure you do not forget anything.
If you have awhile before your Disney vacation, make plans to sit down weekly with your family and look at brochures or websites. This will keep the excitement flowing and help you all plan the trip as a group, ensuring no one’s plans are left out of the overall plan.
