Parenting begins at the point of conception. Well, to many of us that is. Not everyone is behind this theory though, thus today will be yet another landmark day in the lives of the people that believe in Pro-Life. Today is the 41st annual March for Life!
This year the theme will be all about adoption; perhaps the middle ground sought between Pro-Life and Pro-Choice believers. This rally is so important to so many that it will go on rain or shine and with or without wind chill factors that could plummet to -20 degrees below zero (Fahrenheit) in Washington D.C.
For parents that simply cannot seem to become parents the good old-fashioned way, adoption is an easy choice, but, unfortunately, it is very expensive in the United States and there are fewer babies put up for adoption because of the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973 allowing abortion to be legal. Knowing that there is a baby out there that can be easily dismissed is heart-wrenching to a woman that wants nothing more than to be a mother but does not have the means.
Even animals feel the hard tug on their heartstrings when they lose a baby to miscarriage or still-birth. Many female animals will do whatever it takes to be able to feel the tug of the nipple or to simply snuggle up against the most unlikely of babies in order to become a mother of one type or another. There is actually a recent case in California at the Helen Woodward Animal Center depicting this very scenario. If you look deeply into your heart, you will be able to see the extreme need that this female canine has and the love she is willing to give to relieve her broken heart.
While you may or may not believe in Pro-Life, you do have to admit the importance of parenting. Abortion should NOT be used as a means of birth control and unfortunately the mass majority of women that abort their child are using the Supreme Court’s decision in Roe v. Wade for just this purpose, breaking the hearts of the women out there craving to be a mother!
As stated on the Right to Life Site (www.rtl.org), “When asked about their primary reason for seeking an abortion, less than 1% of women said it was because of rape, less than 1% due to incest, 4% listed their health and 3% said the health of their child. Interestingly, the poll indicates Americans don’t understand that the vast majority of abortions are performed for social and economic reasons, not the so-called “hard cases.” The poll shows 57% support keeping abortion legal in all or most cases, yet 57% also say abortions should be illegal if the reason is to end an “unwanted pregnancy.”
So, please, all of you out there with an unwanted pregnancy, think about all the women that want to be mammas. Don’t give up, there is help out there – just look at the case of the dog mother in California. If you think that that bond is strong, you will be pleasantly surprised to see what a human connection is like!
