It Happened One Night in Columbus

The CAPA Summer Movie Series continues this week with It Happened One Night (1934).

Runaway socialite Ellie Andrews (Claudette Colbert) is en route to the Big Apple to elope with a fortune-hunting flyboy.  Along the way she meets a crusty newspaperman (Clark Gable), who's just been sacked and - unbeknownst to Ellie - plans to sell her story to get his job back.  But a string of zany  misadventures leads them to realize they're madly - if reluctantly - in love.

Directed by Frank Capra, this film classic is screwball comedy at its best.  Colbert and Gable are perfectly matched as a headstrong heiress and a newspaperman who fight the battle of the sexes on a cross-country road trip.  This was the first film to win all five major Oscars - Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress and Screenplay.

Check out this classic romantic comedy on Wednesday, June 9 and Thursday, June 10 at 7:30pm daily.

To order Summer Movie tickets, call 614-469-0939, or visit the CAPA ticket office at the Ohio Theater.
