It could be a Ringo Starr world with new trademark designation

It's been well reported that Ringo Starr's name was trademarked Jan. 23 with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The news, first mentioned by Gamespot.com, has led to a lot of internet speculation on what kind of product or products could be coming. Most of the speculation mentions a video game, since the first thing shown in the application listing reads "computer game software."

But the focus on the trademark application could be much wider given some of the additional keywords with the listing on the Patent Office site.  Other phrases such as "downloadable computer games via the internet and wireless devices," "downloadable electronic media and publications featuring music, entertainment and topics of general interest" are also included.

Not only that, but an additional section mentions toys, including toy cars, plush toys, toy watches, toy musical instruments, bathtub toys, sports balls, swimming toys and even games (jigsaw puzzles, playing cards and board games). Such products harken back to his role as the conductor and narrator on "Thomas the Tank Engine" in 1984. And the Beatles' song and movie "Yellow Submarine," which he sang the theme for, has always had a family appeal to it.

Ringo Starr is no stranger to technology. His "Liverpool 8" album was released on a USB stick, making him one of the first to do so. But the trademark listing, given the wide scope, at the least could be Ringo just planning for the future. Little other information outside of the patent listing has been available to indicate otherwise, though as we said, speculation's been rampant.

Either way, whether something is coming or isn't, getting a trademark to his name isn't a bad idea.

those clauses just cover all the bases, it doesn't mean any or all of those things will be done. Ringo and company either have plans or they caught something in the air that was going to capitalize on "Ringo" and decided to take action.

    Yes, Ringo is very cool

I would like Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band in a rhythm guitar game like special edition, or incorporated into Rock Band.
