Iowa pop/rock/country/folk musician Danika Holmes returns to her alma mater on Friday, February 1, when she plays a concert at the Maintenance Shop (2229 Lincoln Way in Ames) on the Iowa State University campus. Doors at the M-Shop will open at 8:30 p.m., and Holmes and her band will take the stage at 9 p.m. Tickets for the show will not go on sale until the day of the concert. They will be $10 per person, and they may be purchased at the Maintenance Shop box office or online through MidwesTix. ISU students can attend the show for free by showing a valid student ID at the door. This will be an all ages concert.
Danika Holmes grew up in Bettendorf, Iowa and went to college at Iowa State University. In 2009, when Holmes was supposed to be writing her dissertation for her PhD, she instead wound up writing her debut album. Second Chances was released in 2010. Holmes next album, Living Your Dream, was released two years later. Holmes' sophomore effort was completely fan funded through a Kickstarter campaign online. Songs from the album, like the single "Bluebird", can be heard on indie radio around the world, and she has appeared on Iowa Public Television and Radio.
