According to TMZ on April 3, Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora was a no-show at the Calgary concert and won’t be performing for a while. Apparently, there’s been a feud brewing for years between John Bon Jovi and Richie and it finally exploded over the top.
Richie Sambora didn’t show for the Calgary concert on April 2 and posted on the Bon Jovi web site that he was pulling out because of “personal issues.” Reportedly, those “personal issues” are also “money issues,” but there are no further details. At the concert, John told the crowd, "I had two choices: pack up and go home or give you everything I got ... Richie Sambora won't be performing for a while. If there's ever a night I need you, it's tonight, Calgary!"
Meanwhile, Richie is spending quality time with his daughter. The two recently took an 11-day trip to Hawaii filled with all kinds of dad/daughter activities like zip-lining and just chilling out at the pool.
As to where this will lead, it’s anybody’s guess. Bon Jovi without Richie Sambora is hard to imagine. They’ve been friends for a long, long time and all their fans are fervently hoping they can patch up their differences and get back to the business of making music.
Bon Jovi plays Los Angeles on April 19, which is Richie Sambora’s home town. Will he show? Many Los Angeles fans will be sorely disappointed if the two are still at odds and they don’t get to see their hometown hero.
