A French diplomatic aid worker carrying “French-funded tents and emergency aid to 120 Palestinians whose homes Israel had demolished that week” was dragged from her vehicle by an Israeli soldier Reuters reported. She then hit the soldier in the mouth.
The Israelis are viewing it as an “isolated incident.” The French, not wanting too much attention from it either, have relocated the diplomat and said she will return to France by the end of the year.
Strange, huh. A French diplomat gets pulled from her car, carrying humanitarian aid no less, and the French government is not saying anything. It seems rather heartless from the tone of the article to manhandle a women carrying supplies which are not weapon based, or any illegal contraband to defenseless Palestinians.
Reports from Reuters or wherever on Israeli aggressiveness against anyone is usually condemned at the highest levels.
Clearly, we are not getting the whole story
Probably this French diplomat was mouthing off and being so uncooperative to the soldiers that one of them finally lost it and just forced her out of the car. The French government embarrassed over the diplomat’s behavior does not want to make a big deal over it. The Israelis having no percentage in antagonizing relations with the French government are willing to let it go as well. And, they both agreed to send her home at the end of the year when things calm down.
I know its speculation on my part. But, considering the facts and knowing the French are never shy about condemning Israel on anything it does, this is probably the most likely scenario.
The quicker they get that French diplomat out of Israel, the better things will be.
Just my opinion
