Israel crowns their first Black queen (Photos)

Yityish Aynaw made history on Feb. 27, 2013 as the first black woman to be crowned Miss Israel 2013. The Miss Israel or Israel's Queen of Beauty pageant was held at the Haifa International Convention Center. Yityish is 21 years old and will represent Israel in the upcoming Miss World 2013 Pageant scheduled to take place in Jakarta, Indonesia on Sept. 28.

Yityish, which means "a look to the future," is from Ethiopia and immigrated to Israel at the age of 12.

“I hope to become a successful model thanks to the contest and create a change in the perception of dark-skinned models," she expressed. "I would be happy to be the first Ethiopian television host, an Israeli Tyra Banks."
