Brian Cavazos-Galvez played hero again Saturday night. Pinch hitting with two outs in the eighth inning of a tied game, the Albuquerque native slugged a solo home run to propel the Isotopes to a 6-5 victory over the host Las Vegas 51s.

Albuquerque (45-53) took two of three from Las Vegas (56-42) as both teams head into the Triple-A All-Star break. The Isotopes split a doubleheader Friday.

The 51s led 5-3 entering the eighth inning when Jamie Romak smashed a leadoff home run on a line drive to left-center field. Brock Peterson followed with a single and Mike Baxter drew a walk.

Walter Ibarra grounded into a 6-4-3 double play but Peterson made it to third base. With Cavazos-Galvez batting for reliever Matt Magill, Las Vegas reliever John Church threw a wild pitch, enabling Peterson to score the tying run.

Cavazos-Galvez then untied the game with a towering home run to left-center. It was the first pinch-hit homer by an Isotope this season and followed a walkoff home run and a walkoff RBI double by Cavazos-Galvez during the last homestand in Albuquerque.

The 51s got the tying run to third base in their half of the eighth, only to see Brandon Allen pop up to second base to end that threat. Yimi Garcia retired all three batters he faced in the ninth to earn his first save of the season.

Magill (5-5) earned the victory as he struck out two batters and allowed just one hit in 1.1 innings. Isotopes starter Drew Carpenter gave up five runs, three earned, on seven hits and three walks while striking out five in 4.2 innings.

Casio Grider hit his first career Triple-A home run leading off the third inning. Roger Bernadina was 1-for-4 with two runs scored, while Joc Pederson went 2-for-4 with a double.

Pederson and pitching coach Glenn Dishman will travel to Durham, N.C., for Wednesday's Triple-A All-Star Game, which can be seen on MLB Network. The Isotopes will resume their season at home Thursday at 7:05 p.m. against the Sacramento River Cats.
