The Albuquerque Isotopes earned an efficient 4-2 victory over the host Reno Aces in the opener of a four-game series Monday night.

Clint Robinson went 3-for-5 with two RBI while Joc Pederson was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and a solo home run.

Henry Sosa (1-0) picked up the victory, allowing just one run on three hits and one walk in six innings.

Albuquerque (3-1) jumped ahead quickly, scoring twice in the first inning. Pederson had a one-out single, followed by a double off the bat of Jamie Romak. Robinson then drove in both runs with a single up the middle.

Pederson walked to lead off the third inning and later scored on an infield RBI single by Miguel Olivo. In the seventh, Pederson led off with a solo home run to right field.

Reno (2-3) scored in the sixth as Didi Gregorius tripled and then came across on a groundout by rehabbing veteran Cody Ross.

Roger Kieschnick would add a two-out RBI double in the ninth, but Sam Demel came back to get Blake Lalli to pop up to second baseman Walter Ibarra to end the game and earn his second save.

The Isotopes and Aces will play a matinee Tuesday at 2:05 p.m.

Notes

  • Left-handed reliever Colt Hynes was officially added to the roster Monday. To make room, right-handed reliever Tyson Brummett was demoted to Double-A Chattanooga.
  • Though it is not yet official, catcher Tim Federowicz is expected to be recalled Tuesday to replace fellow backstop A.J. Ellis on the Dodgers' roster. Ellis, also a former Isotope, is set to undergo surgery on his left knee. He will miss four-to-six weeks.
