From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Lower Florida Keys visitors can celebrate the holiday season, enjoy live music and choose unique creative offerings at the Big Pine & Lower Keys Island Art Festival. The annual open-air fair is set on the wooded grounds of the Lower Keys Chamber of Commerce, 31020 Overseas Highway on Big Pine Key at mile marker (MM) 31 oceanside.
Island Art Festival attractions include booths offering original gifts and craft items ranging from handmade jewelry to pottery and more. Items are to be raffled throughout the day as well, providing additional opportunities for attendees to acquire pieces by members of the Keys' flourishing creative community.
The family-friendly fair also features live music by favorite local entertainers as well as food and beverages. Admission and parking are free, but attendees are requested not to bring picnic baskets or coolers.
Close by at Out of the Blue Gallery & Gifts, 29842 Overseas Highway at MM 30 oceanside, Big Pine's Artists in Paradise Gallery is staging its annual open-air art and craft show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Attendees can find colorful creative offerings by the gallery's artists, Keys residents skilled in mediums ranging from batik and fabric art to oils and watercolors, photography, sculpture and even gyotaku or fish printing. Also popular for gifts are handcrafted jewelry, fused and painted glass, and woven objects.
Holiday baked goods also are to be available for sale to benefit the gallerys programs.
In addition, show attendees can explore Out of the Blue's selection of artistry and gifts. The emporium is to be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
