A Florida church plans to burn the Quran on the night of Sept. 11, in order "to stand against the evil of Islam."
The burning of the Quran, Islam's religious text, is a deeply offensive act, and has drawn condemnation from many quarters. Nevertheless, the Dove World Outreach Center, a New Testament Church in Gainesville, plans to host an "International Burn a Quran Day" on the ninth anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks.
Terry Jones, Senior Pastor at Dove World Outreach Center, and author of a new book, "Islam is of the Devil," claims: "We believe that Islam is of the devil, that it's causing billions of people to go to hell, it is a deceptive religion, it is a violent religion and that is proven many, many times,"
The protest is just the latest in a series of provocative actions from the self-described "New Testament Church," which seems as interested in getting attention as it is in sharing the Word with the world.
The church, which was founded in 1986, has long been controversial in Gainesville. The Koran-burning protest is just the latest in a string of high-profile "protests on other issues, such as homosexuality, same-sex marriage, and abortion," Religion News Service reports.
The naked bigotry and hatred being expressed by the church is truly despicable. The proposed actions of Jones and his parishioners ares ugly and hurtful. Book burning is always the refuge of intolerance and ignorance.

There are extremist on ever religion. The Holy Quran condemn extremism and also our prophet Mohammed warned all muslims to not be extremist. what happened on 9/11 shocked us as all. those terrorist did not only targeted America, but also some of the Arab countries. those terrorists are no deferent than this ignorant pastor who wants to burn the Quran. we understand the pain that our fellow americans went trough after 9/11, but we have to stand together as one nation to fight terrorism. I strongly believe that terrorist do not have a religion or a home. Please Google bosnian genocide and see what Muslims went trough and Jewish at the time of Hitler. christians who committed these actions, we as muslims never attempt to burn the Holy Bible because we are smart enough to realize that not all Christians are bad or the religion itself. if America let this happened, the whole world will just say "Shame on you America"
