As if it's not enough for ISIS to execute innocent American journalists and rampage across Iraq and Syria causing the type of murderous havoc which can only be perpetrated by heartless, inhuman individuals -- ISIS, the self-proclaimed Islamic State, also known as ISIL, is now not only a threat to the U.S., Iraq and Syria -- they have added Russia to their list. On Wednesday, Sept. 3, a video obtained and released by Israel National News shows an ISIS member threatening to dethrone Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Interestingly, ISIS took the opportunity to have the video serve a dual purpose, as ISIS sent threatening messages to both Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The video was recorded from the Tabqa military base in northern Syria, which ISIS seized in August. Standing atop a Russian built Syrian fighter jet, an ISIS militant sent President al-Assad a message saying:
You’d better watch out Bashar, we’re coming for you in planes. We’ll be coming for you from the skies, with these planes, Allah willing,” he said in the video. “Brace yourself for what’s coming, you pig.” As the video progresses, an ISIS militant shows the Russian built fighter jet's cockpit, bragging about their successful seizure, saying: "This is Russian equipment captured by our brothers in the Caliphate."
Another militant is heard in the background asking to "convey a message to Putin," and after getting the "Yes, go-ahead," a man with his face fully exposed, which is a rarity for ISIS militants, is recorded sending the following message as he pointed his finger at the camera:
Vladimir Putin, these are the Russian planes that you sent to Bashar. Alla willing, we will take them back to your own turf, and liberate Chechnya and the Caucasus, Allah willing. The Islamic State is here to stay. It is spreading, and has become a caliphate. Your throne is being threatened by us. Allah will grant us success. You can see the evidence for that in the Levant. There are consecutive conquests here. We are coming, Allah willing."
Soon after the message is sent, celebratory shouts of "Allahu Akbar," -- the Islamic saying meaning, "God is great," are heard throughout background.
As ISIS gains ground in both Iraq and Syria, and now threatening to make their presence in Russia, President Obama seems to be keeping his cool under the mounting pressure from not only the international community, but also from the U.S. "We will not be intimidated. Their horrific acts only unite us as a country and stiffen our resolve to take the fight against these terrorists," said President Obama during a press conference in Estonia on Wednesday.
