Isaiah Mustafa could play Drax the Destroyer in 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

According to Cinema Blend as reported on January 3, 2012, that the viral sensation Isaiah Mustafa of the Old Spice commercials could be in the running to play Drax the Destroyer in the Marvel movie "Guardians of the Galaxy". Lately, there has been a casting process to select actors playing roles in the up and coming Marvel movie.

Now, rumors are going around who is going to play one of the guardians, Drax the Destroyer.
The Comic Book Movie site have acquired information from a source that is close to production that Isaiah Mustafa might be considered to play Drax, along with David Bautista, and Patrick Wade.

Though it might be noted that some time back, Mustafa did tweet that he'd be taking a tour around Marvel Studios. But that was during the time where he was thought to play the role of Luke Cage.

The origins of the character, Drax the Destroyer, go back to his original identity, Arthur Douglas, a former musician that was killed by Thanos, The Mad Titan, while traveling with his family in the Mojave Desert. Kronos then decided to resurrect Douglas in astral form into the powerful being to take on Thanos.

Mustafa is known as a big comic book fan, with his favorite characters being Batman and Spider-man. Reason being is the fact he was able to tie his own life experiences to these characters. In fact, he even won $47,000 on the T.V. show "The Weakest Link" for guessing correctly the first name of Doctor Frankenstein due to his knowledge of Dr. Doom, the adversary to the Fantastic Four.
