As a new mom, staring longingly at that one special date in February, you might be wondering if it is even possible to celebrate the day of love this year. The answer is yes, where there is a will there is a way. The good news for new parents is that your significant other is probably just as tired at the end of the day as you are, so any extra effort will be considered a huge gesture. Here are a few simple things that you can do the celebrate Valentine's Day with your special someone.
1.) Make breakfast in bed. You wake up every morning and make everyone breakfast to serve at the dinning room table, so spice things up and take it to your bedroom. This will give your loved one a little extra time to wake up in the morning and will be a great way to start their day off with a smile. I suggest heart shaped, red pancakes to celebrate the holiday.
2.) Leave a little note somewhere they'll find it. Just a little message of love to let the other person know how you feel, especially during times of high stress like after all of those sleepless nights with a new baby, will really make your loved one feel special. It doesn't have to be a ten page letter. Put a sticky note on the steering wheel telling them something that you love about them. Be serious, be silly, be you.
3.) Make your significant others favorite dinner. This falls on the same principle as breakfast: you're going to be cooking anyways, so why not make it special? Is there a dish that you make that your other half absolutely loves? Or is there a dish that they have been mentioning wanting to try from a local restaurant? Now is the time to give them the dinner that they are craving.
4.) Lastly, after a long, busy day, you want to do nothing but kick your feet up and relax. How about watching a movie together? This is a great, relaxing activity that involves extensive cuddle time. There is nothing better, especially on Valentine's Day, than curling up in your loved one's arms.
While celebrating a holiday as a new mom is not easy, it is do able. Think of things that you already do during an average day that you can spice up a little. Your loved one will appreciate you doing anything for them, even if its small things around the house. Forget about the hardships of being a new mom and concentrate on each other. After all, the point of Valentine's Day is spending time with those you love.
