Italian coachbuilder Castagna has been in the coach building business since 1849.
What is coach building? For those of you who don’t know: coach building is accomplished when craftsmen take a platform and build their interpretation upon it. So, in this case, Castagna took a FIAT 500, sliced it, stretched it filled it with a sumptuous, hand crafted interior, added electric motors to the front wheels and packaged it for American consumption.
The regular FIAT 500’s length is around 11-feet, 6-inches. This baby limo is nearly 17-feet, 6-inches in length.
Castagna says the electric limo will have a 150 mile range and a top speed of about 100 mph. That’s Nissan Leaf territory. We’ll have to wait and see. Still, there may be a good fiscal case for adding the Abrath’s turbocharged engine in this limo and having something that’s chic, environmentally friendly and less ostentatious than a friggin’ Hummer limo.
The coachbuilders at Castagna say they have three limos: the LimoSun has a large opening in the rear for a beach-themed vibe; the LimoCity had electric-sliding doors and LimoCity Presidential – which is the one we might get.
Interesting – no?
