Uh-boy...or girl? You have to hand it to Mariah Carey. Girlfriend still knows how to work the blogosphere into a frenzy. Rumors of impending mommyhood have followed La Mimi for a while. Even if her reps deny it, she may be holding back "something special" to announce soon.

Call it the pregnant pause heard around the world. Pop diva Mariah Carey gleefully joined the media circus with hubby Nick Cannon over Oscar weekend in support of Team "Precious" to glamorous effect. Yet, she's left quite a tabloid-fueled frenzy in her wake.

It seems Carey's casual comments on several red carpets around Los Angeles have refueled a new stream of baby talk. While at the Film Independent Spirit Awards in downtown L.A., the UK's Daily Mirror reported the 39-year-old singer-actress offered this teasing tidbit, "There's...something special on the way. I can’t say any more."

Then, at Sunday's Academy Awards in Hollywood, Carey stoked the rumor fires further by looking curvier than usual, at least according to the legion of gossip bloggers certain she's got a lamb in the oven. Sites like HollywoodLife.com have breathlessly reported Carey skipped drinking her favorite champs, preferring to sip water through the night.

Sure, Team Carey is refuting all baby claims at this time. Still, given the singer's joy in stirring up the press, it is fair to expect, well, that she's expecting something new in her life very soon. But what?
