Until now, no medical expert was willing to endorse the HCG diet as it was considered to be a dangerous and a fad diet by the FDA and the FTC. However, an increasing number of doctors and diet experts are now looking into growing claims of the positive effects that the HCG diet is having on thousands of people worldwide. One of them, Dr Emma, has found scientific backing behind the success of the HCG diet and is now sharing her research and studies with the world.
Till now, doctors were unable to explain how the HCG diet worked in the human body and critics across the world were having a field day claiming that the HCG hormone had nothing to do with weight loss, rather the severe calorie restrictions were responsible for it. Moreover, growing criticism from FDA compelled doctors and medical professionals to rally against the diet, stating that the HCG diet would not lead to long-term weight loss and an individual who was off the diet would regain lost weight and what more, in a short period of time. According to Dr. Emma, thousands of patients were studied and years of research was put into understanding how the HCG diet worked and conclusions were presented to the American Society of bariatric physicians in October 2012.
In her research, Dr Emma has categorically stated that the need for HCG is extremely critical in maintaining weight loss throughout the HCG weight loss diet, and in fact is a crucial factor in ensuring that the individual stays off from lost fat for life. She is of the opinion that the diet is what makes a person lose weight while at the same time the HCG supplementation changes the way the person loses weight. Here's how:
• By introducing HCG into the body, the person has very little need for food and the sensation of hunger reduces dramatically. This allows the individual to eat smaller quantities of food in a comfortable manner while feeling satiated. Dr Emma states that the reason the person is comfortable with a small amount of food is because of the presence of HCG in the bloodstream which causes the appetite to reduce drastically. In her studies, she noted that during pregnancy, women would often feel nauseous due to the presence of HCG in the bloodstream, especially during early stages of pregnancy.
• HCG by itself is not a hormone but is considered to be a pro-hormone, that is, a chemical that causes the body to produce additional helpful hormones. A number of individuals who experience sudden weight gain often have their hormones to blame; hormonal imbalance is the key culprit and hence HCG supplementation is useful in correcting thyroid imbalance or any other hormonal deficiency.
• Supplementing the diet with HCG helps a person from losing muscle while dieting. Dr Emma noticed that when HCG was introduced into the body, hormone levels including testosterone helped in creating an anabolic state in the body, which is believed to be the state of muscle building. This anabolic state helped in counteracting the catabolic state, known as the muscle breakdown phase. When the individual began taking the HCG hormone, the receptors on the hormone systems present on the muscle fibers started to react to the heightened hormonal levels. This is extremely critical because when a person is fasting or consuming very little calories as against a normal day, a high amount of muscle starts to get depleted in the body. Since muscle weight is substantial, the loss is quite visible and can be seen on the weighing scale almost immediately. But such a situation is not healthy for the body, as fat needs to get depleted instead of muscle. Moreover, losing muscle is a cause of concern as it is not only bad for the body but also destroys metabolism in the long run. Also, it is far more difficult to regain lost muscle over a period of time.
In the HCG diet, there is no fear of muscle-weight being lost, as the HCG hormone protects the body from utilizing muscle deposits, but rather makes use of fat deposits in the absence of a regular diet.
