There are rumors on the winds in Afghanistan that funding for the Taliban is funneled from the US government http://www.thenation.com/article/how-us-funds-taliban. At this point, just a rumor. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89zFMgSREEc There are a few top theories that are thought by the Afghan nationals.
According to a report from an allvoices reporter http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/5935387-some-afghan-professionals-and-intellectuals-believe-us-funds-the-taliban, it is the economic and academic elite that are speaking the loudest. Their idea comes from the opinion, that if the war were to end, America's presence and influence in the region would not only wane but become non existent. http://www.prisonplanet.com/al-qaeda-are-pawns-of-the-us-military-industrial-complex.html
The writer makes a few points. The Taliban has been caught using US military weapons, supplied by NATO members. He does point out, that they could be captured or black market weapons. Then there is the fact that it has taken this much time, personnel, and financing but there is yet to see any real results.
Then there is another fact that the writer forgot to mention. That the US aided the Taliban against Russia and used Osama and the Al Qaeda network as CIA ops. The problem we now have was created then, since the Russian military was there to stop Islamic fanaticism from controlling Afghanistan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-ZIwMPIIAQ&feature=related.
Could it be that the past and present administrations have prolonged the conflict and costing American lives just for the purpose to remain relevant on the global stage?
