Is there an iPhone app to help my dating life?

There’s an app for everything, right? It's hard to remember a time before iPhone applications, when we had to fend for ourselves to get directions or pass the time in line.  Well, it seems that now there are a growing number of apps catering to singles, at least according to a recent article in the Los Angeles Times, which examines a few new ones made specifically for those in the dating market.

You may ask…how can an iPhone app possibly help me when it comes to dating? It’s all about chemistry and connection. Well, you may be surprised.

“Girlfriend Keeper” allows guys (or girls) to keep in touch with that special someone without actually having to…well…keep in touch. Instead of calling or texting your romantic interest, you can rely on this app to send generic, warm messages on your behalf…at specified intervals, and according to your “interest level” (casual dating to serious). This way, you don’t have to remember during the course of your crazy day to send a sweet little message to your loved one. Cool huh? Dating on autopilot.

Then there is “Skout”, which is a new way to pick up singles in your immediate vicinity. That’s right. It uses a phone’s built-in GPS to track down any single people say, at the Starbucks when you are buying your coffee. It saves you the trouble of asking for someone’s name and whether or not they are available. Of course, you have to sign up for Skout and give permission for your basic information to be available to strangers (name, age, photo, etc.). The rest of the connection is up to you.

There is also the tried-and-true “101 Pickup Lines”, which means just what it says. These app developers have a sense of humor, and supply you with some of the best of the worst, such as: “Do you have a map? Cause honey, I keep getting lost in your eyes…” If you’d like a conversation starter, it might be fun to pull out this app. Hey, we could all use a little humor to break the ice!

Very interesting article. I must say, "Wow." I didn't know the dating scene had come to this.
