In the previous article we discussed the different changes taking place in our country and this article will discuss sports figures and lying.

“The Livestrong Foundation, formerly known as the Lance Armstrong Foundation, is a United States 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides support for people affected by cancer. The foundation, based in Austin, Texas, was established in 1997 by cancer survivor and disgraced former professional road racing cyclist Lance Armstrong.”
Here is a great athlete who overcame cancer, although the (doctors reportedly said his cancer was caused by drugs), and founded the Lance Armstrong Foundation now known as the Livestrong Foundation and admitted taking enhancement drugs all during his competitions! After years of lying and suing so many that he can’t even remember who they all were, now he finally comes clean!
How many people did he hurt? Even though many were helped through the foundation, does the end justify the means?
Now, “Manti Malietau Louis Te'o is an American collegiate football player. He is a linebacker at the University of Notre Dame. Growing up on the island of Oahu, he was one of the most decorated high school athletes in Hawaii's history.” Wikipedia
He had an invisible girlfriend which everyone found out was a hoax. But was Manti Te’o fooled himself by an elaborate hoax or did he deliberately conjure up the fake girlfriend who had a horrible car accident and then 8 months later die of leukemia?

There is a tangled web of lying, cheating, deception not only among these athletes, but also among others such as politicians, and of course most people in the world are guilty of these sins, even those who profess Christianity. Some even justify "little white lies."
Is there ever justification for lying and deceiving?
If we are a Christian nation should not we be interested in what the Word of God, the Scriptures of Truth have to say about lying and deceit?
First of all, let’s go to the book of Revelation to see what the end will be for those who break God’s laws!
- Revelation 21:8: "But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."
Is God angry with this nation?
The children of Israel provoked God to anger with their idolatry and other sins, do we not think that we are provoking our Father in Heaven to anger? Just one example God's anger is in the book of 2 Kings and Josiah, the King took action!
- 2Kings 23:19: “And all the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke the LORD to anger, Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Bethel.”
Is there hope for these people?
