Teen meme star Giovanna Plowman is still being widely discussed online -- and rumors that she killed herself are still circulating. To be clear, the girl is still alive and she is still being targeted by a slew of comments -- many negative. Amid the cyberbullying the teen is still experiencing, the question still remains about whether or not she really did suck on her own used tampon. While people debate on the validity of her video or if it's a hoax, the internet celeb posted a new video on her Facebook page -- a sequel if you will.
The video was uploaded 12 hours ago, but as of today (January 21, 2013), there are more than 2,290 comments on it and nearly 100 shares on Facebook. As you can see by the screenshot in the photos, some of the comments are pretty harsh. One person even tells Giovanna to drink bleach -- a reference to bullied suicide victim Amanda Todd. While it's not illegal in the United States to make such harsh statements, they cannot be unspoken and sometimes it's these very comments that push disturbed individuals to commit suicide.
Yesterday this Examiner.Com article shared the news of the viral tampon video, and it, too, went viral and ended up on the popular 'KnowYourMeme' website. However, now it should be questioned as to whether or not this young girl is truly a "victim" of bullying at all. She seems to be enjoying herself. Remember Jessi Slaughter? The young girl whose videos went viral a couple of years back? She was extremely proud of herself back then, and Giovanna is very proud of herself as well. Her responses to the threats and the bullying?
"Whatever, I'm famous!"
Famous indeed, but at what cost? So was the tampon sucking video a hoax, since it was all a carefully planned attempt at getting famous? Did Giovanna Plowman really suck on her own used tampon? Some are arguing that the tampon might have been soaked in food coloring. However, the video, which can be watched here, clearly shows clotting indicative of menses -- which also contains a bit of tissue sloughed from your reproductive organs. Any woman who has had her period for more than a few years and uses tampons can tell fake from not fake -- and if this video is a hoax then it was an extremely clever hoax with expert attention to detail. And no offense, but this poor kid doesn't seem bright enough to pull that off.
At any rate, whether she hoaxed the video or truly sucked on her own tampon, that is no reason to tell her to kill herself or tell her to "drink bleach." She doesn't deserve to be threatened, even if she is reveling in this attention and comparing it to being famous. She'll end up on a show like Tosh.0 someday where she will further make a fool of herself, and when she's older she will likely never live this down. So treating her badly about it now is nothing more than adding to the apparent mental issues she may have.
