To find out, you can go to www.flunearyou.org where you can register and find out by typing in your zip code. It appears that the flu season is in full swing already. Hospitals around the country have been overwhelmed with flu cases and the flu season is not even half over yet. 41 out of 50 states are reporting widespread cases of the flu this year. According to Brian Williams of NBC Nightly News , Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pa. have set up tents to serve as triages to treat the overflow of flu patients. NBC's chief medical editor, Dr. Nancy Snyderman reported that "this is the worse flu season we have seen in over a decade and has the CDC concerned."

A good way of not getting the flu might be to avoid others and areas that have it but that's not always possible or practical since this virus can be lurking on any surface where it can survive up to eight hours. Washing your hands and avoid touching your face, nose and eyes is one precaution but for an extra measure of safety you can try a good hand sanitizer.

Although these options might be good, this year's flu shots are are the best way to avoid getting the flu, since it matches almost identical to the virus.
