The flu is still hitting hard in the State of Ohio. A death from the flu has been reported. A 71 year old woman from Euclid died as a result of the flu. It is unknown whether the victim received the flu shot or if her sickness and ultimate death was as a result of another illness that may have played a part.
The Ohio Department of Health states that "regional flu activity in the state" in two but less than half according to Cleveland.com. There are 368 reported cases of flu-hospitalizations in the last week of December. No pediatric deaths have been reported in Ohio but there were six nationwide.
Some of the symptoms of the flu to look for are: fever, cough, sore throat, headache, chills. See your doctor right away if you think you have the flu or experience flu-like symptoms.
Flu vaccinations are available from October to December but the State of Ohio has extended this through February. It is important that high-risk population, children and senior citizens, get vaccinated. Go to flu.gov for more information.
