Is the economy affecting the fashion industry?

Ebony Fashion Fair Model

According to the Ebony Fashion Fair, the world's largest African American traveling fashion show, it has. The show was scheduled to come to Norwalk, Connecticut this fall but after 50 years of successful shows Linda Johnson Rice, chairman and CEO of Johnson Publishing Company announced that they would have to bow out gracefully due to the challenges they have been facing during the current state of the economy. Some of their corporate sponsors have been having financial difficulties and therefore they have had to discontinue to sponsor the fashion show for the time being. Even though the Fashion Fair showed the work of fashion legends such as Yves St. Laurent, Bill Blass, Nina Ricci and many others it also provided a home for black designers, including Kevan Hall and Tracy Reese. We will update on the Ebony Fashion Fair as more information becomes available.
