ABC will not air "The Bachelorette" episode 5 on Monday, June 9 and Bachelor Nation is wondering why. Instead, the network will run a one-hour special, “The Bachelorette: The Journey So Far" from 8 - 9 p.m. ET that will show clips from the four episodes that have already aired.
Why will ABC air a rehashing of the show instead of a new episode on Monday night? There are several rumors as to why, but it all comes down to Hillary Clinton.
Last week, Andi Dorfman took some heat on Twitter after she gave Eric Hill the boot for being honest with her. Now the network is taking a break from airing the next episode, but it's not because they're trying to figure out how to get people to like Andi again.
Instead, the show will be preempted by an interview with Hillary Clinton and ABC's Diane Sawyer that will air during a one-hour ABC News prime time special on Monday, June 9, at 9 p.m. ET. Rosemaster Chris Harrison spread the news last week on Twitter when he tweeted, "Sorry to say no new #Bachelorette this Mon. ABC news has replaced us with a Hillary Clinton interview. My apologies #BachelorNation."
Fans who had no idea why "The Bachelorette" would skip a week speculated that ABC was pulling back because of the anger that surrounded the ending of last week's show in which Eric Hill told Andi that she was being a "poker face" and that he didn't come on the show to find an actress. In return, she got pissy and sent him home.
Not long after his departure from the reality show, Hill died in a paragliding accident. ABC ditched the usual rose ceremony last Monday night and Chris Harrison tried to do some damage control in light of his passing. In an awkward sit-down with Andi, fans watched as she tried to clear the air about how her time with Eric ended on the show.
In the eyes of many who watched, the talk in lieu of a rose ceremony didn't help.
"Andi didn't realize that she was 'brutally honest' to Juan Pablo like Eric was with her? Or was she acting? Hmmm...." #Bachelorette - @AndisMouth
"I think Andi cried because she knew Eric Hill was right because he was probably right." #thebachelorette - @AmandaSeyfried
"I came on this to meet a person, not a TV actress" Eric says to Andi. Introducing the first guy who calls it for what it is." #Bachelorette - @whatiwore
Now that the word is out that Hillary Clinton's interview will force "The Bachelorette" to move episode 5 to next week, fans are still not happy. Politics is getting in the way of the reality television show that just about everyone loves to bash and some fans on Twitter are once again expressing their unhappiness.
@Chrisbharrison doesn't Hillary Clinton and Diane Sawyer know not to interrupt the season of #Bachelorette w/their stupid interview? #Fail - @BernieSander
@chrisbharrison no bachelorette AND Hillary Clinton in it's place? Worst!Day!Ever! -@DawgFanGinny
The next episode of "The Bachelorette" will air on June 16 when 11 guys will follow Andi to Marseille, France. Three more men will go home and hopefully their departure won't be as jarring as Eric Hill's.
If you can't live a week without watching Andi say "Staappp" and "Y'all" then you can tune in for "The Bachelorette: The Journey So Far" starting at 8 p.m. Suffice to say ABC is really hoping to make fans fall back in love with Andi after last week's hot mess with Eric Hill. That is if they were in love with her to begin with.
