Ryan Seacrest turns 40 later this year, and he is now saying that it’s time to grow up—and possibly settle down. On Wednesday, People shared an interview with the longtime “American Idol” host, who revealed that while he is “embracing” his upcoming milestone birthday, he’s also ready to make some lifestyle changes.
The notoriously busy star—Seacrest’s multimedia empire includes “American Idol,” a syndicated daily radio show, a production company, and a new men's clothing and accessories line for Macy's – said he’s ready to fulfill himself on a more personal level.
"I look at what my mom and dad have had for 40-plus years – a fantastic relationship and great marriage," he said. "Someday I'd like that. They're my role models."
After his headline-making split with “Dancing With the Stars” alum Julianne Hough in 2013 after a two year relationship, Seacrest began dating 23-year-old model-trainer Shayna Taylor last fall. But the relationship was kept fairly quiet until recently.
Last month, People reported that the multi-tasking millionaire took his new lady love on an extended summer trip through Europe. And Taylor, a Wilhelmina model who looks undeniably like Seacrest’s former girlfriend, even posted an Instagram pic of herself and her famous boyfriend snuggling in Italy.
Julianne Hough, who has moved on and is currently dating ice hockey player Brooks Laich, hinted to Redbook earlier this summer that dating Seacrest cramped her style.
"Every relationship, there was nothing wrong or bad, but there was nothing right," she told the magazine. "I had one foot out because I didn't want to get hurt. And I didn't say what was on my mind because I didn't want to ruffle any feathers. I needed to be perfect."
Back when they were dating, Hough told E! News that her family was wondering when Seacrest was going to put a ring on it. The closest he came was when he pranked her when she was in the audience during a 2012 episode of “American Idol.”
"There's something that's been on my mind for a while," Seacrest teased in front of a live audience. "It's a question I've been meaning to ask you and I don't want you to feel uncomfortable.” He then reached into his jacket to pull out a fan letter for Hough’s “Rock of Ages” costar Tom Cruise.
But two years later, and with the big 4-0 looming, it sounds like he’s a bit more ready to settle down. Because if Seacrest wants to be married for 40 years like his parents, he may want to get started soon!
