Is repentance a necessary ingredient of salvation? Leonard Ravenhill, Brownsville Revival videos

You may wonder if you need to repent. If so, you are not alone. Some suggest that a good God would never send good people to hell. Since the majority of people believe they are good, it makes sense that many naturally assume they would not spend eternity in hell for any of their wrongs. Therefore, they do not see the need to repent. But is repentance a necessary ingredient of salvation and can people make it to heaven by passing the need to tell God and others they are sorry for their wrongs? Some may wonder why repentance would be necessary at all. If someone has performed more good works in their life than bad deeds, it would be reasonable to assume their good works counteract any wrongs committed. Unfortunately, this is not what the Bible says.
According to the Bible, repentance is a necessary ingredient of salvation and without repentance, there is no forgiveness of sin. It takes a lot of work to repent. Really, it does. Because before you can repent for your sins, you have to take a good hard look at yourself and determine just what your sins are. This is a simpler task for some than others.
The Bible says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. The Bible also states in Luke 13:3 that if you do not repent, you will perish. The Bible makes it clear that repentance, forgiveness, and salvation walk hand in hand.
Acts 3:19 reads, “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the time of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.”
1 John 1: 8-9 states, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
